A woman accused of scamming a local resident by posing as a bail bondswoman may have victimized others around the southeast, according to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office officials.

Mary Gambrell was arrested in Spartanburg, S.C. and has been charged with theft by deception. She’s suspected of taking more than $1,000 from a Forsyth County resident and promising to get a relative out of jail, then disappearing. Gambrell also allegedly promised to help victims get green cards, which she had no ability to do, officials said.

Active warrants are out for Gambrell in other jurisdictions, including Hall County. Anyone with information and/or possible victims should call the sheriff’s office at 770-781-2222.
