A Lithonia police officer and an infant were killed late Saturday in a wreck involving a car and a motorcycle, according to a report from Channel 2 Action News.
Officer Jamell Dent, who was off-duty at the time, was riding his motorcycle on Rock Chapel Road in the Stephenson area when his bike collided with a car, Channel 2 reported. Two adults in the car were critically injured in the crash, and an infant riding in the car was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead, the station reported.
The wreck occurred about 10:45 p.m. Saturday.
Dent was a recent addition to the Lithonia Police Department. He had previously been an officer with DeKalb County, Channel 2 reported. The incident is under investigation.
