Two people have been arrested after police discovered more than 100 pills and drugs such as heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine and ketamine inside a truck during a traffic stop Sunday evening in Marietta.

According to police, an officer on patrol saw a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling on Franklin Gateway near Delk Road “make odd maneuvers” in an effort to avoid the marked cop car.

Officer Aaron Johnson, a police K-9 handler, was able to move behind the car and checked the truck’s license plate. Upon discovering the registration on the truck had been suspended, Johnson conducted a traffic stop on the truck, Marietta police said.

The officer asked the driver, 44-year-old Edrichus Sykes of Atlanta, to step out of the vehicle. Sykes allegedly had methamphetamine in his pocket, police said.

The passenger of the truck, Suwanee resident Desire Scarpa, 37, was also asked to step out of the truck. Marietta police said Johnson also found two bags of crack cocaine and a Hi-Point C9 pistol in Scarpa’s possession.

Johnson retrieved his K-9 partner, Atos, to conduct an open-air sniff of the truck and the dog alerted on the presence of more drugs in the truck, Marietta police said.

Police also found 137 pills in the truck, including muscle relaxers, allergy medication, sedatives, opioid pain killers, anti-psychotics, stimulants, antibiotics and several other unidentified medications. Cops also found three firearms: a Smith and Wesson revolver, Glock 35 and a Hi-Point C9 rifle, Marietta police said.

Scarpa is charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She is at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center with a $11,220 bond.

Sykes is charged with several counts of drug possession, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime and traffic offenses.

He is held at the Cobb jail with a $55,220 bond.
