How will Thanksgiving affect your Cobb County trash pickup?

Between the extra people, food packaging and the lamp invariably broken by forbidden indoor football, Thanksgiving creates trash.

It also throws off many municipal trash schedules.

Check out the Thanksgiving garbage and recycling schedules throughout Cobb County below. (And please play football outside.)

♦ Acworth: Thursday pickups will be on Wednesday.

♦ Austell: Did not provide its schedule, and it couldn't be found on the city website.

♦ Kennesaw: Trash will be collected one day later for the rest of the week.

♦ Marietta: Thursday recycling and trash services will be on Monday; Friday recycling and trash services will be on Tuesday; yard waste services will be on Wednesday.

♦ Powder Springs: Thursday routes will be picked up Monday, Nov. 28. Once Thursday routes are completed on that Monday, the city will begin on Friday routes. Friday routes may carry over into Tuesday, Nov. 29.

"Tuesday routes should have their carts out by 7 a.m. on Tuesday as normal. However, it may be later in the day before your cart is emptied," the city said.

Yard waste collections will resume Dec. 5.

♦ Smyrna: Thursday and Friday routes are picked up on Wednesday.

Or you can throw out tradition itself and see what restaurants are open on Thanksgiving.
