A steamy week will end with slightly cooler temperatures this weekend. But June in Atlanta means it will still be hot and humid.
Saturday’s high temperature will reach 90 degrees under partly cloudy skies, according to Channel 2 Action News forecasters. Scattered storms are possible in the afternoon, when there is a 30 percent chance of rain, meteorologist Karen Minton said.
Keeping dads cool should be on the agenda for Father’s Day on Sunday. Expect mostly sunny skies and a high in the low to middle 90s, Minton said.
As long as it’s dry, road construction crews will again work on various projects this weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
In Cobb County, work on the new Northwest Corridor Express Lanes will require lane closures and traffic pacing in the areas of I-575 and Bells Ferry Road and I-75 and Canton Road, GDOT said.
If you’re heading to or from Florida beaches, expect delays on the south side of town due to construction on I-75 in McDonough and on I-85 through Newnan. Construction and ramp shifts are also expected around Spaghetti Junction as bridge work continues.
The Braves host the New York Mets for a weekend series at Turner Field beginning Friday night with a first pitch at 7:35. Saturday’s game time is 7:10 p.m. and Sunday’s is at 5:10 p.m.
Friday night and Sunday afternoon, the Atlanta Dream will play home games at Philips Arena. The Chicago Sky is in town for Friday’s 7:30 p.m. game, and the Dream hosts New York Liberty at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Saturday night, about 18,000 people are expected to attend the Hot. 107.9 Birthday Bash at Philips.
