After the Cherokee County E-911 system discovered about 46 addressees in Holly Springs were still using the former street designation of “Old Highway 5” instead of the actual name today – Holly Springs Parkway – the city is formally assigning new addresses.

The Holly Springs City Council recently approved a resolution that says property owners have been notified, and the change has been reviewed for possible duplications or conflicts by the Cherokee County GIS and E-911 departments.

“Each property will be able to maintain the same number of their current address; however, the street name will be changed from Old Highway 5 to Holly Springs Parkway,” the resolution says.

The action, effective immediately, is necessary to avoid confusion in the E-911 system and ensure proper responses by first responders, according to the resolution.
