Construction of the new interchange at Highway 316 to serve State Route 20 and Collins Hill Road in Lawrenceville is complete. All new ramps are open, new signals are operational and paving is complete on Collins Hill Road and State Route 20.
Work continues to replace two parallel bridges west of Collins Hill Road over the Colonial Pipeline, which supplies petroleum for the east coast. All bridge beams are in place and the east-bound concrete bridge deck has been poured.
The west-bound bridge deck is slated to be poured soon and should not require lane closures. However, DOT officials anticipate onlooker slowdown in the area. Installation of 12 Automated Traffic Management System cameras and sensors used by the state Traffic Management Center to share real time traffic through 511 and Georgianavigator.com still must be done.
Gwinnett also operates a Traffic Management Center and will be able to access information from the new ATMS.
