Piedmont Henry Hospital officials announced that Dr. Lily Henson will become the facility’s new chief executive officer Feb. 3.

In that role she will oversee 1,750 employees and 700 physicians. She joined Piedmont Healthcare in 2015 as chief of neurology and in 2016 became Piedmont Henry’s chief medical officer. Officials said that during that time the hospital has reduced serious safety events by 83 percent and cut hospital-acquired infections in half under her leadership.

Henry County’s sole hospital is the fifth-largest in the Piedmont system and has the second-busiest emergency department with more than 90,000 visits each year.
