Snapping Shoals EMC presented a $15,000 check to Henry County Schools Superintendent Rodney Bowler to be distributed among 13 individual projects.

These “Bright Ideas” mini grants range in total from $500 to $1,500, and they provided items from cameras and other technology, to books and supplementary instructional materials.

The items are a part of expanded educational programs that teachers are providing in their classrooms, according to a school system spokesman.

Snapping Shoals EMC has been providing these grants since 2007. The grants, which are allocated from the local cooperative’s unclaimed capital credit funds, are designed to help teachers who wish to extend educational opportunities and activities for students by developing student interests and abilities.
