The Henry County Board of Commissioners will have the final say on three rezoning requests brought before the Zoning Advisory Board.

Three rezoning requests were recommended for approval by the Henry Zoning Advisory Board at its July 25 regular meeting and will be heard by the Board of Commissioners for final approval or denial Sept. 17.

A request to rezone 40 acres from C-1 (neighborhood commercial) to MU (mixed use) got unanimous support; the property is east of Hwy. 19/41 and west of Old Hwy. 3 and Old Griffin Road, and a proposed change to the county’s future land use map designation for that property was approved as well. The vote on the rezoning of 2.07 acres at 100 Mount Carmel Road from RA (residential agricultural) to C-2 (general commercial) was also unanimous. The ZAB voted 4-1 to recommend rezoning from R-3 (single-family residential) to C-3 (highway commercial) for 1.393 acres at 101 Hwy. 138 East for a gas station and convenience store with other commercial spaces.
