The Henry County Stormwater Management Department is hosting an open house for citizens, businesses and interested parties to view the proposed, updated floodplain maps and preliminary flood insurance rate maps.

It is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Henry County Emergency Management E911 Communications Building, 526 Industrial Blvd. in McDonough. The maps show areas in Henry County at risk for flooding, and staff will be present to answer questions and discuss changes that may affect property, insurance and building requirements.

Officials and experts will be on hand to answer questions and concerns, and give updated information on how the new maps may impact property owners. Following the open house, there will be a 90-day comment period for input on the maps and a final version could take up to 18 months to be officially adopted.
