The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its Nov. 8 regular meeting to recommend denial of a rezoning request for a 114.93-acre site on North Ola Road north of Snapping Shoals Road and the Ola school complex.

The applicant is seeking a rezoning from R-2 single-family residential with sewer and proposed a 134-lot subdivision. Several citizens spoke in opposition to the plan, citing traffic issues and soil erosion among other things. A motion to approve R-2 with additional conditions failed.

The applicant will have the opportunity for a hearing before the Henry County Board of Commissioners at one of its regular meetings in the next two months to seek final approval.
