The Henry County Police Department was approved to purchase 30 Dodge Chargers from Akins Ford Dodge Jeep Chrysler of Winder by a vote of the Board of Commissioners as its Sept. 20 regular meeting. The total cost is $700,477 and a budget amendment was approved to provide the necessary funding.
Also, a bid for the remounting and refurbishing of two emergency medical vehicles belonging to the fire department was awarded at the same meeting, to Custom Truck and Body Works Inc. of Woodbury for $222,176.
Additional funding for vehicle equipment in the amount of $52,824 was approved at the meeting, as was a budget amendment that transferred $275,000 from the General Fund Balance to the Capital Asset Fund for the fire department.
