The Henry County Fire Department is getting some financial assistance in the form of a $1,268,819 allocation from the federal government.

The office of U.S. Rep. David Scott, whose 13th Congressional District includes a portion of Henry County, made the announcement Oct. 2. The money is being distributed under the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, according to a statement from the congressman’s office.

“Local fire departments play a vital role in keeping our communities safe,” said Scott, who is a member of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus. “I am well aware of the critical need to increase and maintain the number of trained, front-line firefighters. And I will continue working to support and deliver federal funding for the fire departments across Georgia’s Thirteenth Congressional District.”
