A Henry County police officer was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated sexual battery, according to the GBI.

Henry County police requested the GBI investigate Officer Tim Ferguson last month after learning of allegations made against him, an agency spokesman said. Ferguson was apprehended in the Kroger parking lot at Eagles Landing Parkway and Ga. 155 in Henry County.

GBI spokesman John Bankhead said no other information would be released “out of respect for the privacy of the alleged victim.”

Ferguson, suspended without pay on Jan. 31, posted $25,000 bond and was released early Wednesday night, according to jail records.
