The Henry County Board of Commissioners took the first step recently to enclose the open-air arena at the Jason T. Harper Event Center in Heritage Park.
The board voted June 21 at its regular meeting to authorize the use of nearly $76,000 in SPLOST funds for design services relating for the project, which was listed on the SPLOST referendum approved by voters in November 2013.
Other SPLOST-related work approved at the meeting included $241,000 for plumbing repair at the county jail and $269,000 for additional lighting for sports fields at a community park now under construction in the Fairview area.
