The Hapeville City Council recently approved a revision to the city’s zoning ordinance about fireworks. The ordinance defines consumer fireworks, consumer fireworks retail sales stands, consumer fireworks retail sales facilities and the National Fire Protection Agency.

It allows consumer fireworks retail sales facilities and stands to operate in the commercial area off Springdale Road. It does not allow the facilities and stands to operate in the areas designated as neighborhood commercial and village.

The city council also voted to repeal a section from its zoning code relating to pavement surfacing in order to revise and reinstate a newly created chapter of the code.

The item creates a zoning code chapter designed to help clarify surfacing provisions and enforce them. The new chapter defines terms that were previously undefined and separates the residential and non-residential surfacing requirements into different sections.
