Gwinnett County police are looking for a woman they say targeted unauthorized immigrants in a shipping scam that netted “hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

Lorena Mena, 44, of Lawrenceville, is wanted on multiple charges of theft by deception. Police have identified at least six victims.

Mena claimed to be operating a business that would ship items internationally, police said. Victims paid Mena for shipping services or gave her money to invest in the company. Mena would take the money and cut off contact to the victims, according to a department release. Items that victims paid to ship were never sent to their destinations.

The Gwinnett County Police Department is encouraging any victims who have not filed a police report to do so. Mena “primarily targets undocumented individuals,” the release said.

Mena is believed to have fled to California or Washington state.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Crime Stoppers tips may be rewarded with up to $2,000 if they lead to an arrest or indictment. Tips can be made anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
