Gwinnett County has set its early voting schedule for the Aug. 11 runoff election.

The county’s main elections office will have three weeks of early voting, including two full weekends. Voting will begin Monday, July 20 and go through Friday, Aug. 7.

At four satellite locations, early voting will be available for one week, from Saturday, Aug. 1 through Friday, Aug. 7.

All early voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in an effort to be consistent across locations. In the June 9 election, early voting hours at the main elections office differed from those at other locations.

County Commissioner Jace Brooks said he thought the early voting access seemed like “a lot of availability for not-great turnout,” but voted in favor of the proposal. County Commissioner Ben Ku said he would rather have overstaffed elections than have voters wait in long lines.

In addition to the elections office at 455 Grayson Highway in Lawrenceville, the other early voting locations are the Bogan Park recreation center in Buford, the George Pierce Park community center in Suwanee, the Lenora Park gym in Snellville and the Lucky Shoals Park recreation center in Norcross.

All of those locations will also continue to have drop boxes, where people can turn in absentee ballots.

Races that are going to runoffs include Democratic primaries for the sheriff, county commission chair and District 3 on the county commission, as well as the Republican primary for District 3.
