Gwinnett Commissioners renewed a contract Dec. 1 to provide inspection and repair services for fire hydrants. The $505,026 contract goes to low bidders, American Flow Services LLC and Georgia Hydrant Services Inc.

The contract provides annual inspection, maintenance and repair to ensure efficient and reliable operation of the county’s hydrants. Gwinnett has approximately 43,000 fire hydrants, which are inspected every three years on a rotating basis.

This schedule requires inspection and maintenance of 14,400 fire hydrants per year.
