The Gwinnett County Police Department is accepting applications for the next installment of the Citizen’s Police Academy. The 29th Citizen’s Police Academy will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 14 through Aug. 20 in Lawrenceville.

The mission of the Gwinnett Citizen’s Police Academy is to create and develop a growing nucleus of responsible, well-informed citizens who want to learn more about their police department. Examples of topics covered include the organizational structure of GCPD, criminal investigations, crime scene investigations, 911 communications, quality of life unit, crime prevention, gang investigations, traffic enforcement, accident investigations, DUI unit, emergency vehicle operations, K9 unit, aviation, agitated chaotic events, civilian active threats, scenario training for participants and a SWAT demonstration.
