The Gwinnett County Police Department will begin the Holiday Task Force Thursday. This annual operation puts additional officers in shopping districts to reduce crime against holiday shoppers. This year, the Holiday Task Force will operate on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through Dec. 31.
Police are encouraging shoppers to park in well-lit areas, observe their surroundings and report any suspicious or loitering persons and reminding shoppers to store packages in vehicle trunks, not in the passenger compartment.
Police also suggest avoiding placing packages into your vehicle, then continuing to shop and advise using a cellphone camera to immediately record serial numbers of purchases.
