A mobile home was destroyed in a Thursday night fire, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said.

A large dog was found dead in a bedroom when firefighters responded to the mobile home on Minnie Puckett Circle NE in Buford, according to Capt. Tommy Rutledge, a spokesman for the department. An elderly woman who lived in the trailer was found safe outside.

Firefighters arrived to the mobile home already “fully involved” at 9:11 p.m. Thursday. Due to the “intense heat and flames,” they had to start fighting the fire from the outside, using attack hose lines, Rutledge said.

Once the firefighters were able to enter the mobile home, they found the dog. No other people were inside the dwelling.

A trailer to the left of the destroyed home had exterior siding damage due to radiant heat from the fire, and a trailer to the right had blistering to its siding. The fire is currently under investigation.
