An IHOP in Buford failed its latest health inspection, Gwinnett County records show.

The pancake eatery on Ga. 20 earned a 66/U on the Halloween morning inspection. The restaurant earned an 82/B on its previous inspection, which occurred May 25.

There was “mold-like buildup/slime” found in an ice machine during the inspection, but it was cleaned up before the inspector left, the report says. Shelves in the dish area were rusted and peeling, with food and debris accumulated on them, according to the report. There was also food buildup on shelves in the walk-in cooler, the report says.

Employees used the same gloves to crack raw eggs, handle clean utensils and use a frying pan, posing a risk for cross-contamination, the report says. Some food was stored under a leak in the walk-in freezer, and produce stickers were left on avocados that supposedly had been washed, the report says.

IHOP did not immediately return a request for comment. Re-inspections are typically conducted within 10 days of a failure.
