A former teacher and master sergeant with the Georgia National Guard was sentenced Monday to serve 30 years in prison after his conviction for child molestation.

John Joseph Kinnaman, 41, was convicted earlier this month in Cobb County Superior Court on three counts of child molestation, the Cobb District Attorney's office said.

Superior Court Judge Reuben Green also sentenced the former guardsman to 10 years' probation.

Kinnaman has been in the Cobb County Jail since November, when he was taken into custody from the Troup County Sheriff's Office, according to booking records.

"The victim and her family were satisfied with the sentence," Assistant District Attorney Chuck Boring told the AJC.

Kinnaman, previously of LaGrange, faces similar charges in Troup and Franklin counties, according to indictments obtained by the AJC. He requested a speedy trial in Cobb County, Boring said.

Kinnaman previously served in the 124th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, according to the Georgia National Guard's website. Kinnaman's charges in Cobb stem from incidents on Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Boring said.

In August, Kinnaman was indicted on seven counts of child molestation, aggravated sexual battery and aggravated child molestation in Troup County, his indictment states. In Franklin County, Kinnaman was indicted on five counts of child molestation, documents show.

Trial dates have not yet been set for Kinnaman's other charges.
