Daniel Wilkins, co-founder of  the Atlanta-based Wilkins Parkinson's Foundation recently returned from a trip to Mount Kilimanjaro as part of an effort to raise awareness about that disease and multiple sclerosis.

Wilkins' father, Bill Wilkins, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease  five years ago.

The "Kilimanjaro Leap of Faith Adventure" was organized by Lori Schneider at Empowerment Through Adventure. Wilkins and others in the group wanted to show how people with neurodegenerative diseases can overcome challenges.   Ten people with MS and four with PD, along with 14 climbing companions, traveled to Tanzania for the climb.
