Megabus and Greyhound bus services have announced delays and cancellations due to the winter storm facing much of the southeast and northeast United States.
The company Megabus canceled services in the southeast United States, including Georgia, for Wednesday and Thursday due to the weather, the company said in a statement. Other southeastern states facing cancelled trips include Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina and Louisiana.
On Tuesday, Greyhound delayed or cancelled 10 routes starting in Atlanta, according to its website, in addition to many other trips across much of the Northeast and Southeast for Wednesday and Thursday.
Alexandra Pedrini, spokeswoman for Greyhound, said the company stopped running bus service in and out of Atlanta Tuesday night at around 8 p.m. because the roads were “deemed unsafe to travel.”
“Greyhound monitors national weather reports and works with local authorities to determine if it’s safe to drive,” she said. “That’s why there are delays.”
Megabus says on its website that people whose services have been cancelled will be notified via email and given information on rescheduling or getting a refund. Canceled trips also will be noted on the Megabus website.
