The Grayson City Council voted recently to keep the city’s millage rate for property taxes at 2.10 mills. This is the third year in a row without a millage rate increase. Thanks to new home construction and commercial growth, the city still anticipates collecting an additional $65,797 in revenue, a 23.52 percent increase. Grayson’s property taxes fund storm water drainage, streetlights, sanitation, recycling and yard pickup service.

Homeowners with a $250,000 appraised value can expect to pay about $210 in city taxes.

Next up, Grayson officials will hold public meetings on the proposed 2017-2018 budget at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 and before adopting the budget at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at City Hall, 475 Grayson Parkway. Budget information will be available July 31 to the city council and Aug. 7 to the public online and at city hall.
