An 18-acre tract fronting Goza Road near SR 85 in Fayette County was approved for rezoning by the Board of Commissioners on Sept. 27.

The 4-0-1 vote (with Charles Rousseau recusing himself) changed the zoning from A-R to R-80 and will allow developer Rick Halbert to subdivide the property into six residential lots of approximately three acres each. The rezoning had already been approved by the Planning Commission on Sept. 6 and conforms to the county’s comprehensive plan. As part of the development agreement, Halbert agreed to maintain a 10-foot right-of-way easement along Goza Road and to not create any driveway access from SR 85.

Several existing structures and accumulated debris on the property will be removed.
