The city of Hapeville announced that Google has delayed its decision timeline regarding build-out of a fiber network in the metro Atlanta market. Google originally set a goal date to determine an infrastructure plan and decision by the end of 2014.
According to a news release by Google, the delay is driven by issues regarding nationwide planning. Google said it will continue its analysis of a massive construction effort for a Fiber Network build out.
City of Hapeville officials said they are still working with Google as are all of the other nationwide 34 cities, including all of those in the metro Atlanta market.
Google said it expects to make a decision on the metro Atlanta area market by first quarter of 2015.
