Ogeechee Riverkeeper seeks watershed monitors
One of the most important roles for supporters of the Ogeechee Riverkeeper is to be extra eyes on the rivers and streams in the Ogeechee watershed. The organization is looking for people to go to that next level? The Ogeechee Riverkeeper is seeking volunteers throughout the watershed to get trained through the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream program to help monitor the water quality with regular water testing. Steps are:
- Collect accurate information on the health of our water
- Identify sources of pollution and holding polluters accountable
- Respond to citizen complaints and following up with the appropriate agencies
- Review and comment on proposed permits, industries, land use plans, and other local regulatory issues that impact our water.

MedShare Southeast needs medical supplies sorters
MedShare volunteers typically work to sort and package surplus medical supplies to be sent overseas. The sorting sessions are three hours long in the sort room of our Decatur facility, which is heated / air conditioned. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age or older to volunteer on their own. An orientation is performed at the beginning of the session, so punctuality is important. If you would like to volunteer as an individual, simply note your availability for the days you would like to sort with us and we will plan to have you in at those times.
