Volunteers needed for School Crashers makeover

Georgia United Credit Union invites the public to get involved in its 4th annual School Crashers school improvement project at Canby Lane Elementary School this summer. Built in 1967, the school has 740 students and 80 faculty and staff. The “crash” will take place in July so the project can be completed in time for the new school year in August.

Join Georgia United in working alongside school and community volunteers to provide improvement projects like building and grounds renovations to enhance the learning environment for Canby Lane’s students and faculty and staff.

Anyone who is interested is encouraged to volunteer, regardless of your skill level. The project will need a lot of volunteers to work around the building and ground. If you have painting, landscaping or construction skills, please sign up to help a skilled crew leaders. Due to the scope of projects, young children are not encouraged to attend. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Permanent volunteer positions avialble at FLRC

The Family Life Restoration Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to seeing families restored back to God’s original plan, operating as a fully functional unit. It has community partnerships with churches throughout metro Atlanta. These church partnerships allow congregations to expand their local mission outreach with opportunities tailored to individual church dynamics. Church support through prayer, financial and in-kind donations, and voluteerism provides a strong base for its programs.

Piedmont Park Day in the Dirt

The Piedmont Park Conservancy is encourage metro Atlantans to grab coworkers, school groups or civic groups to help keep Piedmont Park beautiful. The Day in the Dirt experience provides an opportunity for groups to promote community involvement, encourage environmental stewardship and build teamwork while making an immediate and tangible impact on the park. Projects are outdoors and may include pruning, weeding, mulching, collecting trash, rooting out invasive species, etc. Day in the Dirt is ideal for corporate, church, community, school and nonprofit organized groups

The Conservancy requests a minimum of four weeks for scheduling. They can accommodate groups of 10-75-plus volunteers. For youth groups, they recommend one chaperone per every 10 youth volunteers. Age requirement: 13 and up. All volunteers must sign a liability waiver prior to participating in the group service program. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have the waiver signed in advance by their parent or legal guardian.
