They Will Skate Again seeks volunteers

Hosted by Life Rolls On, a surf and skate organization for wheelchair athletes and founded by world champion quadriplegic surfer Jesse Billauer, the organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people affected by spinal cord injury. Believing that adaptive surfing and skating could inspire infinite possibilities beyond paralysis, Life Rolls On began as a splash into the unknown on Sept. 11, 2001; achieved 501c3 nonprofit status in 2002; and now touches the lives of hundreds of thousands of lives.

They Will Skate Again needs hundreds of volunteers for an epic day at the Kennesaw Skatepark.

Light breakfast snacks, an awesome lunch and water throughout the day is provided for registered athletes and volunteers.

When: 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29

Slow Food Atlanta offers docent training

Slow Food Atlanta, a local chapter of an international organization that celebrates good, clean and fair food for all in the community.The member-supported nonprofit’s dedicated work fosters the preservation of diverse Southern food culture and traditions, while advocating holistic alternatives to the industrialized food system.

Its mission is to revolutionize the food system to create a world where food is good for the people who eat it, farmers who grow it and the planet which produces it. To further that mission, it is offering docent training for its Lexicon of Sustainability Storytelling Artworks. The pop up shows are being shown all over Atlanta by trained art docents. In this training, a thorough introduction to Slow Food and the Lexicon of Sustainability will prepare docents to do the pop up shows and share information with interested visitors.
