Provide rides for cancer patients
Cancer patients need help getting to their treatment because they do not have access to transportation. The American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers for its Road to Recovery program, which provides free transportation to those battling cancer in DeKalb County. Free training is provided to volunteer drivers. Requirements include a valid driver’s license and good driving record, proof of insurance, and a vehicle that is in good working condition. The Society conducts criminal background and DMV checks on drivers who sign up for Road To Recovery. Volunteers can commit as many or as few hours as their schedule allows. There is a specific need for volunteer drivers in the Lithonia area.
