Acting Mayor Terry Giager returns to his commission seat with the swearing-in of newly-elected mayor Jonathan Elmore during the Board of Mayor and Commissioners meeting, 7:30 p.m., Monday at the Avondale Estates City Hall, 21 North Avondale Plaza.

Giager didn’t run and he supported Elmore, but remains displeased with the recent mayoral campaign, which he called “disheartening.” He cited various posts on an Avondale-related blogsite attacking the commission as “dishonorable … [committing] illegal action” while also implying the BOMC held “secret meetings” to conduct “secret negotiations.”

He’s also upset with an ethics complaint filed against the board, which the Ethics Board reviews Tuesday in its first hearing since 2009.

“There was a lot of political maneuvering,” Giager said, “and it saddens me people would do these things to undermine the city.”
