The Gwinnett County Animal Shelter is running multiple adoption specials in June, including free adoptions every Friday.

The same "Free Fridays" special previously ran in March.

The shelter is also offering free adoptions to teachers and other "education staff" every day in June except Sundays. In May, first responders, medical professionals, military members and veterans had adoption fees waived for all animals.

No matter your profession, you’ll still get a discount at the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter this month. All animals have a reduced adoption fee of $20. Dogs typically cost $90 to adopts, and cats typically cost $30.

Kittens can be adopted in sets of two for $20. Cats often have litters in higher rates during the summer months, leading to large numbers of kittens available at animal shelters, officials said.

All animals are spayed or neutered before they go home with their new owner. They also receive a medical exam, vaccinations and a microchip.

The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. It is located at 884 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville.
