A single day.

That’s all the time it took to raise nearly $1.45 million - $1,448,233 to be exact - for Georgia nonprofits during the second annual Georgia Gives Day.

More than 1,700 organizations participated in the online fundraiser, which was launched by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits a year ago. Single donations ranged from $1 to $25,000.

Last year, the effort raised $782,225 in 24 hours. The Georgia Gives Day website will be active year round.

Georgia Gives Day empowers nonprofits “to tap into the potential of online giving to fund their missions by giving them a free platform, along with the tools, training, prizes and incentives to help maximize their return,” Karen Beavor, president and CEO of GCN, said in a release.
