A left-turn lane from Alabama Road (Ga. 92) to Trickum Road in Woodstock is being extended as part of a $133,141 “Quick Response Program” award by the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The work, by Bartow Paving Co. Inc., is intended to enhance safety and improve traffic flow at the intersection, officials said. The project is expected to be completed the week of July 22.

Construction will occasionally require lane closures, which GDOT said would be limited to 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Advance warning signs will be posted, and motorists are advised to watch out for contractor personnel and vehicles in the work zone.

The Quick Response Program supports operational projects on the state highway system typically costing less than $200,000, including restriping, intersection improvements, and turn lane additions and extensions, officials said. Projects are identified by GDOT staff and managed through the Office of Local Grants. Information: https://bit.ly/2upWX9r
