State highway officials have scheduled a fifth round of open houses on plans to improve Ga. 20 from I-575 in Canton to the west side of Cumming.

The meetings are scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Otwell Middle School, 605 Tribble Gap Road, Cumming; and the same hours May 16 at Calvary Baptist Church, 137 Hightower Road (Ga. 369), Ball Ground.

A “refined concept alternative” will be presented that incorporates prior public comments to minimize impacts, reduce the footprint and address other concerns, the Georgia Department of Transportation says. The state plans widening and other work for 24 miles of Ga. 20 in Cherokee and Forsyth counties.
