Work may begin soon on resurfacing U.S. 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Cartersville, now that the Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a $1.7 million contract for the job.

Northwest Georgia Paving Inc. of Calhoun was awarded the contract to redo about 1.7 miles of the Bartow County road with milling, inlay and plant mix resurfacing, GDOT announced. The project begins at the Cartersville city limits and extends to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

U.S. 41 is a four-lane divided highway in Cartersville. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2019, GDOT said. Information about construction and lane closure schedules will be available before work begins.
