More than eight miles of I-575 in Cherokee County are about to get new striping under a recently awarded contract by the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Roadside Specialties LLC of Blackshear won the $498,256 contract to fog-seal and restripe 11 miles of the interstate, including 8.2 miles of pavement marking upgrades from Sixes Road in Holly Springs to the Etowah River in Canton. The work is to be completed by the end of April 2019.

Information on construction and lane closure schedules will be forthcoming before work begins, GDOT officials said.
