State highway officials have set an public information open house for Thursday on replacing the bridge on Hightower Road (Ga. 369) over Board Tree Creek near Ball Ground in Cherokee County.
The Georgia Department of Transportation event is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. at Hightower Baptist Church, 3444 Hightower Road, Ball Ground. “We would like to hear the viewpoints and concerns of all area residents,” said DeWayne Comer, GDOT district engineer in Cartersville.
The bridge to be replaced is on Ga. 369 between Creighton and Yellow Creek roads. It dates to 1960 and has been classified as functionally obsolete. The new bridge would be built in stages south of the existing bridge, allowing traffic to continue using the existing span while the new one is being built.
GDOT also will accept written statements until Feb. 20. They should be addressed to Eric Duff, State Environmental Administrator, Georgia Department of Transportation, Office of Environmental Services, 16th Floor/One Georgia Center, 600 West Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta GA 30308.
