Responding to concerned citizens, state highway officials are temporarily closing the left-turn lane from southbound Ga. 141 to Callaway Court in south Forsyth County as they seek public comment whether to make the change permanent.
Maintenance crews were to place barrels and signage to close the turn lane Wednesday morning, May 1, the Georgia Department of Transportation said.
Left turns also will be prohibited onto Ga. 141 from Callaway and from a driveway opposite it, according to a GDOT map of the site.
The closure will remain through the end of May as officials evaluate traffic conditions and take public comment. After that, a decision will be made on a final intersection design.
GDOT and Forsyth County will accept email comments from May 3 through May 31. Comments can be sent to GDOT at: D1trafficops@dot.ga.gov; and to the county at: ForsythPR@forsythco.com. The subject line should say, "SR 141 at Callaway Court."
