The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is seeking a man they believe may have been an eye witnesses to the fatal shooting of a man at a MARTA station.

Joetavious Stafford, 19, of Atlanta, was killed by MARTA police officer Robert Waldo, 31, outside the Vine City train station at about 10:20 p.m. Oct. 15, MARTA officials have said.

The GBI said Monday it is looking for a man they have identified in security camera video. The man is wearing a white baseball cap with a blue “Polo” logo and a blue “Polo” jacket with white stripes on the sleeves.

Anyone with information on the identity of this man is asked to call the GBI Tip Line at 1-800-597-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.

GBI agents have already located one eye witness by reviewing video from MARTA security cameras.

MARTA officials have said Stafford was armed when shot.

"We think this was a legitimate and justified [shooting] incident," MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris said after the shooting.

An autopsy concluded Stafford was shot once in the chest and twice in the back.

Waldo has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation.
