Average gas prices across metro Atlanta have climbed another three cents in the past week, with some stations now charging well over $4.00 a gallon.

Monday's average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.87, up from $3.84 a week ago and 16 cents higher than a month ago, according to atlantagasprices.com, a website that tracks how much Atlantans pay to fill up their tanks.

One year ago, the average price was $3.61. Monday's average price nationally was $3.91.

While the $3.87 average might seem high, it's downright cheap compared to some stations that are charging well over the $4.00 mark.

The highest price reported for regular unleaded  in metro Atlanta Monday was $4.29 at a Chevron station on Cobb Parkway in Marietta, followed by a couple of BP stations in Buckhead charging $4.19 a gallon.

At least a dozen other stations across metro Atlanta were charging $4.09 a gallon for regular unleaded early Monday.

Bargain hunters will want to fill up at one of the metro area's warehouse clubs, which the website said was charging $3.70 to $3.72 a gallon. The lowest price statewide Monday was $3.68 at several stations along I-75 in northwest Georgia.
