Fulton County School Board District 1 member Linda Schultz is stepping down from the board to begin her retirement.
First elected to the board in 2005, Schultz represents parts of Alpharetta and Roswell on the countywide body. During her tenure, Schultz was board president from 2010-2014, and twice served as vice president. School officials said on her watch, the district oversaw two SPLOST programs, transitioned to the charter school model, adopted its current strategic plan and won a pair of prestigious national awards.
The board will now accept application from those interested in serving out the unexpired portion of Schultz’s term, which ends Dec. 31 of next year. The deadline is Sept. 18. The board will then pick a candidate, who must still qualify with the Secretary of State and run for election.
