The Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System opened the new 25,000-square-foot Milton Library, located at 855 Mayfield Road, on Thursday with a celebration. The state-of-the-art library design was inspired by the Milton area’s equestrian and agrarian history. The larger reading and community room wings use sloped, gabled roofs, awnings, clerestory windows and porches. The generous use of glass allows for views of the community green and historic oak while allowing views in from the street. This is the fifth library to open as part of Phase I of the Library Building Program. In November 2008, Fulton County voters passed the Library Bond Referendum which includes 8 new branch libraries and two expansion projects.
