Fulton County Commission weighs lobbyist contracts

Fulton County commissioners will consider approving more than $240,000 in contracts for state- and federal-level lobbyists at Wednesday’s meeting. Most of the sum would be for state lobbyists, as the county is gearing up for a tough battle at the state Capitol next year. Northside Republicans, who believe the Fulton government’s significance has diminished with the forming of four new cities in the 2000s, have vowed to start gutting the county’s powers.

For the state level, a $159,834 contract with Atlanta-based Jean McRae and Associates is up for approval. An $85,000 contract with Arlington, Va.-based Alcade & Fay is proposed for the federal level.
