Fulton commission to hold public hearing on budget

Fulton County residents can tell their commissioners how they want their tax dollars spent, or not spent, in a public hearing on the 2011 budget to be held at Wednesday's meeting.

The commission must pass a final budget by month's end. A tentative version, approved in December, would balance the books by requisitioning 64 percent of a $112.9 million reserve fund, much of which is considered surplus, to avoid raising the commission’s portion of the millage rate or furloughing or laying off workers.

The meeting starts at 10 a.m. in the Fulton County Government Center’s Assembly Hall, 141 Pryor Street SW, Atlanta.
