Free yoga, gardening activities at DeKalb parks this weekend

Parks across DeKalb County are participating in national “Park Prescription Day” on Sunday with a number of free outdoor activities.

The event is part of a growing movement of prescribing nature to improve health.

Around the county, more than 10 parks will feature different free activities including yoga, gardening, tai chi, guided walking tours, blood pressure screenings, health education and food demonstrations, according to the DeKalb County Board of Health, the lead organizer.

The flagship event is at Mason Mill Park at 1340 McConnell Dr. in Decatur. The other participating locations are Bouldercrest Park, Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve, Hairston Park, Little Creek Horse Farm and Park, Medlock Park, Olmsted Linear Park-Dellwood, Scott Park, Springbrook Park, W.D. Thomson Park and Zonolite Park.
